During March our spring/summer crops were harvested, and we planted green manure crops in the raised beds on the north side of the yard. We also added compost to the permanent beds and planted seeds for our winter crops.
Seeds planted for winter included; broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, silver beet, lettuce, broad beans, peas, carrots and onions. In photo 1 you can see the overflow pipe from the south side tank.
This is running into a small tire pond on the south fence. The yellow arrow in photo 1 indicates the area, underneath the house, that we had begun to excavate for a cool-store room. Photo 2 shows the first green manure crop and photo 3 shows the north side beds as well as the fresh pine chips we are laying onto the paths between the beds.
This photo shows the south bed during March with the chook tractor in place, preparing the bed for it’s winter crop.
